Epiphanies

He Makes The Bitter Sweet

Okay, before you read any further, I want you to go to some device, whether it’s YouTube, Spotify, or your personal playlist, and pull up the song “Bitter/Sweet” by Amanda Cook.

Got it?

This passage won’t have the impactful power without it!

Okay, cool. Hopefully you have it now.

Go ahead and press play and read the following passage. I hope you get the epiphany I had the other day while I read this and happened to be listening to “Bitter/Sweet” at the same time.

*Mind Blown*

Genesis 1:1-18

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep waters. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters.

Then God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. And God saw the light was good. Then He separated the light from the darkness. He called the light “day” and the darkness “night.”

And evening passed and morning came, marking the first day.

Then God said, “Let there be a space between the waters, to separate the waters of the heavens from the waters of the earth.” And that is what happened. God made this space to separate the waters of the earth from the waters of the heavens. God called the space “sky.”

And evening passed and morning came, marking the second day.

Then God said, “Let the waters beneath the sky flow together into one place, so dry ground may appear.” And that is what happened. God called the dry ground “land” and the waters “seas.” And God saw that it was good. Then God said, “Let the land sprout with vegetation – every sort of seed-bearing plant, and the trees that grow seed-bearing fruit. These seeds will then produce the kinds of plants and trees from which they came.” And that is what happened. The land produced vegetation – all sorts of seed-bearing plants, and the trees with seed-bearing fruit. Their seeds produced plants and tears of the same kind. And God saw that it was good.

And evening passed and morning came, marking the third day.

Then God said, “Let light appear in the sky to separate the day from the night. Let them be signs to mark the seasons, days, and years. Let these lights in the sky shine down on the earth.” And that is what happened. God made two great lights – the larger one to govern the day, and the smaller one to govern the night. He also made the stars. God set these lights in the sky to light the earth, to govern the day and night, and the separate the light form the darkness. And God saw that it was good.

And evening passed and morning came, marking the fourth day.

Then God said, “Let the waters swarm with fish and other life. Let the skies be filled with birds of every kind.” So God created great sea creatures and every living thing that scurries and swarms in the water, and every sort of bird – each producing offspring of the same kind. And God saw that it was good. Then God blessed them, saying, “Be fruitful and multiply. Let the fish fill the seas, and let the birds multiply on earth.”

And evening passed and morning came, marking the fifth day.

Then God said, “Let the earth produce every sort of animal, each producing offspring of the same kind – livestock, small animals that scurry along the ground, and wild animals.” And that is what happened. God made all sorts of wild animals, livestock, and small animals, each able to produce offspring of the same kind. And God saw that it was good.

Then God said, “Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us. They will reign over the fish of the sea, the birds of the sky, the livestock, all the wild animals on earth, and the small animals that scurry along the ground.”

So Go created human beings in His own image.
In the image of God He created them;
male and female He created them.

Then God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and multiply. Fill the earth and govern it. Reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, and all the animals that scurry along the ground.”

Then God said, “Look! I have given you every seed-bearing plant throughout the earth and all the fruit trees for your food. And I have given every green plant as food for all the wild animals, the birds in the sky, and the small animals that scurry along the ground – everything that has life.” And that is what happened.

Then God looked over all He had made, and He saw that it was very good!

And evening passed and morning came, marking the sixth day.

Whew!

Did you make it through? Did you catch what I caught?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I wish I could accurately describe the feeling of awe that came over me as I read this passage and happened to be listening to that song. I was completely blown away; speechless.
I am not sure where you are at in your life or if you’re going through a season of drought, discouragement, loneliness, pain, anger, loss, etc. Whatever the case, wherever you are, I want to encourage you that you have not been forgotten.
You’re not a lost cause.
You’re not someone that God doesn’t want to or can’t save/change.
Just like with the light, God can speak light into your life! He can take you out of the darkness you may feel yourself trapped in. He can take you through that dark tunnel that seems to have no end and get you to the other side. The light at the end of the tunnel doesn’t have to be a rumor or a figure of speech. It can be real and it can be tangible!
Just like with the separationGod can speak separation between you and an obstacle, difficulty, interference, obstruction, stumbling block, etc (I’m sure you get the point) in your life. No task is too small for our God! He can bring freedom to any situation.
Just like with the plants, God can speak production and fruitfulness into your life. Keep pressing in, keep asking, and keep praying. Your breakthrough is near! It may not come about like you expect, but it’s always there. Our God is a faithful God and He is faithful to complete everything He starts.
Just like with the sun, moon, and stars, God can speak organization into your life. I know I can’t be the only one feeling chaotic most days… God can change that! He can bring clarity and order into your life.
Just like with the birds and fish, animals and peopleGod can speak a calling and purpose over your life. If you’re feeling lost and confused, know that He has a purpose for you! You’re not here for no reason! God can take ANY person and their story and create good from it! I mean, just look at Adam. He and Eve royally screwed up… but because of this, we received the best gift: Jesus. 😉 Without Adam and Eve screwing up, we also wouldn’t know pain and we wouldn’t have the ability to know the healing power of Christ. More bridges are built from heartache than a heart still in one piece.
Anyway, I know like some of those epiphanies may have come across as a stretch, but they were all thoughts that popped into my head as I read this passage. I know they were from God and I know they’re meant to be shared so some of you may receive the grace and hope you’ve been looking for.
I pray any of you facing darkness, hurt, and pain, will see the turning of a new page.
A new season is coming.
God makes all things new and good.
Have a blessed day,
Woman of Purity ~
