Psalm 116:1-2
“I love the Lord because He has heard [and now hears] my voice and my supplications. Because He has inclined His ear to me, therefore will I call upon Him as long as I live.”
Funny story… I’m having car issues again.
And just like God’s pattern in my life, I had a pretty cool epiphany while I waited for my car at the mechanic’s…
Typical…
Nothing new about that, haha.
Anyway, knowing I was going to be there for a few hours and that my phone battery probably wouldn’t last the entire time, I decided I should spend time reading my Bible. I figured being stressed about a potentially huge financial stress would best be combatted with some words of God.
Thankfully God didn’t disappoint. 😉
I had randomly turned my Bible to the passage above which quickly caught my attention because I had previously highlighted it. Knowing it was going to be good, I quickly scanned the verses to see what it said.
Instantly two words caught my attention:
Because and Therefore
How many of us in our lives can with ease say, “Because God did ____, therefore I will____.”??
ALSO, how many of us can say this with the complete assurance that David had?
“Because He has inclined his ear to me, therefore I will call upon Him as long as I live.”
I want that kind of faith. I want that kind of trust. I want that kind of complete confidence.
Notice also that this assurance is not because God answered David’s prayer the way he wanted. He has that assurance because “He has inclined His ear.” God listens. Because He listens, we can have that full confidence that He cares. Because we have that confidence that He cares, we know we will be ok. Because we know we’ll be okay… we know that we can ALWAYS go to God for anything and everything… as long as we live!
As I pondered this thought more and more, it dawned on me that there are more ways that because God did them, therefore we will _____.
Here are a few I came up with:
- Listens – we will learn to trust
- Always makes a way – we will have confidence that He always provides
- Sovereign – we will know without a shadow of a doubt that “He’s got the whole world, in His hands”
- Plan for my life – we will find the peace that surpasses all understanding
- Cares – we will find the ultimate rest in Him
- Keeps His words – we will find safety in His promises
I do not know what you all are going through. I don’t know your past or your present. But I do know one thing: God is a God we can trust.
Because He loves us and always takes care of us, we can trust Him with our lives. Sometimes it won’t seem that way, especially if you’re drowning in your circumstances… but please know this: God is for you and He has your back. Turn your eyes on Him and watch Him do the miraculous in your life. And because He will, you know you will always be able to take anything to Him and He will take care of you.
I hope you all have a blessed day!
