“No one would ever sacrifice their life for a loser.” – Adam Smith
There are most likely two types of reactions to that comment.
1. Pity for the losers.
2. Wind was just knocked out of you as memories and pain fill your entire being.

A loser is defined as, “Someone or something that is marked by consistently or thoroughly bad quality, performance, etc.” Among a couple others definitions, but that one stuck out the most to me as I am sure there are plenty of us in the world that consider that definition to be us.
Why?
Well, lies from our past. Someone at one point “proved” to us that who we are is subpar and/or worthless. They rubbed it in through bullying and all kinds of abuse. They decided that this identity wasn’t removable; it WAS us and always would be. SO they told, or showed, us time and again how horrible we really were. Who would ever want us? And you know what? Satan LOVED this lie placed in our lives. He’s done his best to keep this lie present in our lives because he is afraid of the destiny God has for your life. He doesn’t want us to win.
And honestly, we really are kind of losers, if you think about it. Consistently bad quality, performance, behavior… Sounds a lot like what happened after Adam and Eve ate the fruit in the Garden of Eden: sin.
“For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23
But reality is, though we are “losers,” we are still loved and still seen as worth something. People may not sacrifice their lives for a loser, but God definitely did! “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him will not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
Let’s take this lie that Satan is trying so hard to destroy our future with and take it to the one Person who can give us a new identity: winner, loved, redeemed, worth it, cherished, forgiven, needed, wanted, and many, many more. How you think of yourself determines how you live. Let’s set our minds on things above, on the truth that will set us free. Only Jesus can do this for us. No other substitute will do the job.
I don’t want to live the rest of my life in the captivity of my past and lies I’ve been told and I can’t imagine you want to either.
Tomorrow is a new day, but God’s grace over your life can start now. You decide.
