I see him, my groom,
Waiting for me.
Anticipation fills my lungs.
Every cell awakens.
Butterflies in my stomach.
White dress,
Fairytale come to life.
Will he find me beautiful?
Will he be pleased with me?
Am I really everything he wants?
I reach him.
Light touch.
He turns around.
Kind eyes light up.
I catch my breath.
He reaches out.
Words wash over me.
“You’re perfect.”
Shame fills my heart.
Face contorting, I look away.
Tears blur my view.
I am not perfect.
Surely he knows this!
“You’re beautiful.
You’re all I want.
I love you.”
Hands squeeze.
I look down and gasp.
Nail pierced hands hold mine.
